Nantucket Basket Purses
The Nantucket Purse: Go-everywhere status symbol: Around the 1940's, a Nuntucket purse became de rigueur among women of fashion in the yachting set. You'd spot them from Nantucket Island to the Riviera. We offer the classic styles, with tight cane weave, lustrous inset hardwood tops and bottoms, bone hinges nad hand0carved bone ornaments. The traditional scrimshawed image on the bone ornament is etched with a sharp tool and then carefully inked over. All of our scrimshaw artwork is done individually by hand so no two are exactly alike.
